Growing up in Muncie, Indiana, Dr. Thane Boyce was inspired by his father, a small animal veterinarian, whose passion for caring for animals sparked his own love for the profession. Those early experiences shaped his lifelong commitment to helping dogs live healthier lives.
Dr. Boyce earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Brigham Young University before receiving his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. After practicing for four years at an animal hospital in Houston, Texas, he and his family relocated to Georgia, where he now cares for dogs at Good Dog Veterinary Care Smyrna.
His primary professional interest is echocardiography. He also enjoys ultrasound, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry. With advanced training in echocardiography, Dr. Boyce enjoys using advanced cardiac imaging to diagnose heart conditions and help families better understand their dog's health.
His approach to veterinary medicine is centered on building strong relationships with both dogs and their families.
"I believe the strongest outcomes come from fostering the human-animal bond and working closely with families to develop the best treatment plan for every Good Dog."
For Dr. Boyce, veterinary medicine is about strengthening the relationship between dogs and the people who love them. He enjoys helping families understand their dog's health, working together to make informed decisions, and providing compassionate care tailored to each dog's individual needs.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Boyce enjoys cooking, hiking, kayaking, camping, and traveling internationally with his wife, Katharina, their daughter, Amelia, and their two cats.
